Vegan actor Alan Cumming has hosted an animal-free fashion segment during New York Fashion Week.
The show, on February 16, saw Brave GentleMan founder Joshua Katcher present the brand’s Fall 2019 collection of made-to-measure, luxury bamboo suits.
Cumming wore a burgundy chambray bamboo suit with a light blue windowpane check by Brave GentleMan for the event, along with a tan pair of dress trainers.

The New York City made collection is the first luxury, vegan suit line to be made from Italian-milled bamboo suiting fabric – which Brave GentleMan describes as having a ‘sumptuous, soft hand’.
Speaking about the collection shown at the show, Brave GentleMan said ‘Katcher’s collection was an homage to classic suiting, with garments spanning traditional dark navy, rich brown, bold blue, black and charcoal gray’, in a statement sent to Plant Based News.
“Three-piece suits with slender pants and two-button, notch-lapel jackets were accompanied by matching vests and ties,” the brand added. “A dressed-down tuxedo with a shawl collar made from recycled polyester sateen, a dressed up bomber-style jacket and a motorcycle-jacket inspired blazer with tastefully pleated, wider leg pants were the fresh take on suiting for which Katcher will be known.”

Joshua Katcher – a Parsons School of Design adjunct professor and founder of The Discerning Brute, a vegan fashion blog for men – has also authored a book which he previewed at the show.
Fashion Animals (available mid-March), a striking, coffee table book which culminates five years of critical research into the presence of animals in fashion.
