A 160-year-old pie giant has launched its first vegan product in the UK.
Holland’s Pies, which is based in Lancashire, has created its own take on the vegan sausage roll – creating the Vegan Roll.
The roll, which will be available in Morrisons stores across the North West, is aimed at meat reducers and flexitarians as well as vegans.
The Vegan Roll
According to Holland’s Pies, the roll ‘resembles the classic sausage roll in appearance but is instead filled with a soy protein, all encased in mouth-watering pastry and seasoned with a mix of fragrant herbs’.
The company says it made the roll as it wanted to appeal to the huge number of Brits who now identify as vegan or vegetarian – as well as those who are actively cutting down on their meat consumption.
‘Incredibly excited’
“We are incredibly excited to launch our first ever vegan product in Morrisons after receiving lots of feedback from fans following the launch of our extended vegetarian range in 2019,” Leanne Holcroft, Brand Manager at Holland’s Pies, said in a statement sent to Plant Based News.
“With over 400,000 people signing up to take part in Veganuary this year to reduce their meat-consumption and sample the vegan lifestyle, we wanted to give our fans old and new a snack they’ll really enjoy.”
The Vegan Roll is available in Morrisons stores across the North West now, from £1.25
