Legendary NBA player – and vegan of 30 years – John Salley sits down to talk to newly plant-based NBA player Jahlil Okafor about what their choices mean for their health, performance, and teammates in this video by PETA.

Okafor went vegan after watching movie What the Health – and admits his teammates don’t watch the film as they are ‘scared’ it will make them have to go plant-based too.

He adds that he is often asked where he gets his protein.

John Salley says: “We don’t need any craziness of killing animals to get protein.

“My cholesterol is gone, my libido is where it needs to be. I just found it so much better to eat as I was supposed to.

“Most NBA players die of heart complications – you can’t have all that animal fat in your veins.”
