Vegan musician Moby has shared footage from an interview with a slaughterhouse worker on Instagram.
During the interview, the unnamed worker talks about the fear the animals exhibit knowing they face slaughter. He said: “The animal fears. I see that they arrive in tears.”
Moby called the footage ‘intense and heartbreaking’.
‘Exploitation’
Many social media users were sympathetic to the plight of the slaughterhouse worker. One wrote: “Most of the people working in slaughterhouses are poor immigrant workers. It’s hard for them to find work, especially if they aren’t here legally (which is the case with a lot of them).
“The meat companies exploit poor immigrant workers, and pay them way too little considering the dangerous, biohazardous conditions they work in. Just goes to show that animal rights are human rights.”
Another added: “Such a sick and twisted society…forcing animals down the line after a life of being caged and mutilated and forcing people to kill hundreds of them a day for a living.”
