Vegan philanthropist Jim Greenbaum has vowed to give his fortune away in a bid to help tackle suffering in the world.
In this exclusive Plant Based News interview, Greenbalm told PBN Founder Klaus Mitchell about why he puts so many resources into helping others, saying: “I call my approach to philanthropy ‘golden rule philanthropy’. If you’re suffering somewhere you’d hope someone would come to your aid and help you.
“I look at philanthropy in the same way: there’s suffering going on, if you’re aware of it and you can make a difference, you have a moral responsibility to do it.”

Global reach
The founder of The Greenbaum Foundation adds: “These days, unlike years ago, your reach can be global. You can find out what’s going on on the other side of the world, have someone verify it, and work on the issue for you. Not to get engaged is not a moral way to live.”
Greenbalm has a procedure for trying to make the biggest impact: “I find the groups that are the most efficient at what they do, at ending suffering – human and non-human.
“I try to find the areas with the most suffering and the most need where the mainstream groups aren’t working where I can make the most difference. And those are the organizations I work with.”
