Hot for Food’s vegan blogger Lauren Toyota made the cover of Chatelaine magazine this month – just weeks before her first book is set to hit shelves.

The major Canadian magazine described Toyota as a ‘vegan superstar’ – including her in a list of ’23 Women Changing the Way We Eat Now’.

‘Honored’

Toyota told PBN: “I’m so honored to be involved in this issue of Chatelaine that’s highlighting amazing women in the food and wellness industry.

“It’s such a quintessential Canadian magazine and it’s great to have their support in showcasing the vegan movement in such a fun mainstream way!”

‘Far from boring’

The former MuchMusic VJ launched her blog, Hot for Food, in 2014 with the intent to ‘prove that plant-based diets are far from boring’.

She also spreads her message through Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and a YouTube channel – which now has almost 400,000 subscribers.

Hot for Food’s success has resulted in multiple TV and magazine appearances, as well as features on websites including HuffingtonPost and Buzzfeed.

Book launch

Toyota’s first book, Vegan Comfort Classics, will hit shelves on February 27 and is available for pre-order now through hotforfoodblog.com.

Jenna Mourey – the YouTube phenomenon more commonly known as Jenna Marbles – and her partner Julien Solomita gave the collection of 101 recipes a ringing endorsement.

“Lauren is a renegade and hugely responsible for showing the world how incredible plant-based foods can be.

“Her dedication and out-of-the-box brilliance for vegan cooking is in a league of its own. Good luck eating any other vegan food after you try hot for food recipes, because it just does not get any tastier than this. This is basically a bible. Lauren Toyota is above the law.”
