Vegan journalist Chas Newkey-Burden, known for his viral article published by The Guardian titled Dairy is scary. The public are waking up to the darkest part of farming, will be speaking about his experiences of writing for the mainstream media at VegFest this weekend.

The article, which went on to become one of the paper’s most read pieces in 2017, provoked rage among the dairy farming community as well as a wider debate about our treatment of animals.

On March 23, Newkey-Burden will be speaking about the furore surrounding this article, as well as advocating for veganism on the radio, and the emotional toll of writing about animals rights issues in an interview with Plant Based News Editor Maria Chiorando.

VegFest

“A weekend by the seaside surrounded by vegans, within walking distance of the universe’s greatest pier – [VegFest Founder] Tim Barford sure knows how to throw a party,” Newkey-Burden told PBN.

“I’ve had some wonderful, crazy, and terrifying times writing about veganism in the mainstream media. I’m looking forward to chatting about them with Maria, my plant-based maestro.”

Chas Newkey-Burden will be speaking at VegFest Brighton on March 23 at 1pm. You can find out more about VegFest here
