Vegan bodybuilder and YouTuber Jon Venus has shared what he eats in order to stay ‘lean and strong’ in a video.

The successful social media influencer advocates for a plant-based diet that’s high in fruit and carbohydrates.

Barcelona-based Jon Venus trains every day, without using animal-based protein, promoting plant-based protein as being superior.

Diet plan

Venus eats three meals per day – all of which are very filling and add up to more than 2,700 calories.

He starts the day with a post-workout smoothie stuffed with bananas, berries, spinach, and Vivo Maca salted caramel protein.

The next meal includes pinto beans, cooked buckwheat, mushrooms, fermented tofu, alfalfa sprouts, and spinach.

Venus’ last meal of the day is a big bowl of oatmeal, plant protein powder, almond milk, honeydew melon, berries, and pineapple.

‘Too many carbs’

Venus said in the video: “Some of you may be thinking that this is way too much fruit, way too many carbs, way too much sugar.

“But you have to remember that there’s a huge difference between refined sugar or processed foods – which include refined sugar and fruits – or other complex carbohydrates, because they’re attached to fibre and they digest completely differently.

“Do your own research, but please remember that we are humans and we are designed to eat real food.

“And real food will never be bad for your health.”
