Actor Benedict Cumberbatch – commonly known for his role as
Sherlock Holmes – is being hailed a ‘hero’ for intervening in a London robbery June 1.
Intervention
Cumberbatch was reportedly in an Uber with his wife when he
witnessed a Deliveroo delivery cyclist being attacked by four men in an assault so brutal
the man had a bottle smashed over his head.
Quick to react, Cumberbatch told the men to ‘leave him
alone’, before pulling them off of the cyclist, while narrowly avoiding being hit himself.
‘Hero’
Uber driver Manuel Dias – who assisted in diffusing the
situation – said: “The cyclist was lucky, Benedict’s a hero.”
Commenting on the location of the scene, near Holmes’ fictional address, Dias added: “Here was Sherlock Holmes fighting off four
attackers just round the corner from Baker Street.”
