UK-based tabloid The Sun were caught with their pants down yesterday as they mistakingly presented a satirical story as a real event in an article titled: “Mum’s fury as tot is banned from vegan kid’s birthday party because of his outfit.”

After realising the story (originally posted on Southend News Network) was fake, The Sun pulled their article, which included anti-vegan messaging, such as:

“As soon as I arrived at Funky House Soft Play in Ashingdon, I started getting filthy looks from a lot of the mums there. I only realised afterwards that they were all vegan as well.”

One London-based capmpaigner believed The Sun used the fake news story as “an excuse to discredit vegans.”
