Retail giant Tesco says it is ‘monitoring the situation’ after a prankster on Facebook boasted about swapping the labels on veggie and meat lasagne packages.

A post on Facebook showed two lasagne which appeared to have the cardboard outer sleeves swapped around. The caption said the perpetrator of the prank liked to ‘switch the cardboard sleeves…just for fun’.

It has not yet been confirmed which Tesco store the alleged switch happened in.

‘Could kill someone’

“Should be a criminal offense to do that… someone could die if they eat something they’re allergic to,” one social media user commented.

“That’s dangerous, what if there are people with allergies and they go swapping packaging. They could kill someone with this stupidity,” another added.

A Tesco spokesperson told The Sun: “We are aware of this Facebook post and are monitoring the situation.”
