International rugby league player Mose Masoe has revealed a plant-based diet helped him slim down.
The athlete, who plays as a prop for Hull Kingston Rovers, wants to reduce his size while still maintaining his strength – and his new diet seems to be the key.
According to the 28-year-old Samoan athlete, he feels ‘fitter than ever’, and hopes his hard work in pre-season – and on the dining table – will pay off next season.
Vegan
“I’ve always struggled to lose weight, but I’ve just recently become a vegan,” Masoe told the Hull Daily Mail.
“I’ve been stripping off weight so quick.
“The diet has been working for me and I’ve been applying myself to training here to the tee.
“I’ve been sticking to my diet and the weight is falling off.”
‘Nutritional value’
But the Robins forward admitted he is not a ‘full-time vegan just yet’, as he ‘had a lamb shank when [they] were celebrating [his] daughter’s first day of school at the pub’.
He added: “But I’m trying it for the nutritional value and it’s working.”
