A new documentary with the same producer behind the hit vegan film, Cowspiracy, will launch on Netflix next month.

The film sheds a light on the ‘war being waged’ on the world’s oceans, according to the makers. Announcing the news on Instagram, the team said: ‘Stay tuned for the release of the trailer coming soon!’

Oceans at risk

The Seaspiracy trailer is released next week, and promises the environmental cost of the fishing industry

Seaspiracy: A Netflix Original Documentary

Airing on March 24, the documentary will delve into the environmental impacts of the fishing industry on marine life.

It ‘uncovers the most important missing piece of the environmental puzzle’. This is according to Kip Andersen, Seaspiracy and Cowspiracy‘s executive producer.

‘Anyone who cares about the ocean and their future must watch this film’, he added.

The team underestimated the scale of what they were about to uncover, director Ali Tabrizi adds.

Moreover, he said: “What made things even more shocking though, was the fact governments and environmental groups are complicit and profiting off [the ocean’s] demise.”

Environmental cost

The team say they unearthed ‘shocking’ truths whilst making the film, including vast amounts of fishing gear dumped in the ocean

Assistant director Lucy Tabrizi said: “The rate of destruction in our oceans is outpacing our knowledge of its wonders.”

We must ‘engage in this urgent conversation’. This is in order to ‘protect the most incredible habitat on earth’, she added.

Documentary success

Cowspiracy’s success is far-reaching. For example, it received huge positivity since it aired. As a result, it is championed in how it encourages people around the globe to go vegan.

An example of this is the praise it received by a host of celebrities and animal advocates worldwide. Some of those people include Leonardo DiCaprio, Paul Wesley, and Russell Brand.

Moreover, it spurred the creation of What The Health, which is a documentary that delves into the health implications of animal products.

The documentary makers confirmed it will be available ‘everywhere’, and the trailer lands next week.
