Plant Based Film Shows How A Whole Town Improved Its Health By Changing Its Diet

1 Minutes Read

The Marshall Plan is a documentary which focuses on how one whole town started changing its health after residents started adopting a new approach to diet, and focusing more heavily on plant foods.

According to filmmakers Caroline Hofmann and Roland Boeni: “When Texas Mayor Ed Smith III was diagnosed with prostate cancer, he elected to forego conventional treatment in favor of a whole food, plant-based diet.

“The results were nothing short of miraculous: his cancer disappeared.

“He and his wife embarked on a mission to help their town (Marshall) and community adopt a healthier lifestyle based on plant foods.”

The documentary, which can be watched on Youtube, features stories of Marshall’s residents.

Alongside these are interviews from expert doctors and researchers in the field of nutrition, and professional athletes.

Hofmann and Boeni add: “Upon seeing an article published in the New York Times about Mayor Smith’s efforts to raise his community of Marshall back to health from within what is called the stroke belt in America (because so many there have strokes and die of heart disease), we knew we had to take action.

“Shortly after reading the NYC article we flew to Marshall, Texas. Once on the ground there, we were blown away by the remarkable stories of transformation and triumph the people there shared with us.”
