Paul Gascoigne has been gifted vegan steaks after thieves stole meat from his freezer during a recent robbery.
The legendary footballer was left ‘heartbroken’ after a number of sentimental items – including jewelry belonging to his late father – were taken from his home.
These included a gold cigar cutter worth £2,000 and a watch owned by his dad John, who died two years ago from cancer.
‘It’s sad’
Speaking about the robbery to the Sunday People, Gascoigne said: “It’s sad because I have so many memories attached to the items.
“My dad’s belongings meant so much to me, I’d really like them back.”
Vegan steak
Now animal advocacy organization PETA has sent Gascoigne what it describes as ‘well-wishes in the form of a gift of vegan Mheat Steaks by Sgaia’s Vegan Meats’.
“Vegan steaks won’t mend a broken heart, but eating plant-based meals rather than meaty ones can help Gazza reduce his risk of suffering from heart disease and other chronic conditions,” says PETA Director Elisa Allen.
“We’re eager to help him restock his freezer with vegan food that’s delicious, healthy, and kind to animals.”
