An advert promoting NBA star Kyrie Irving’s new line of trainers shows the star tout the benefits of a plant-based diet.
The Boston Celtics athlete first spoke about the benefits of his new diet in October, saying: “This season I’ve been on more of a plant-based diet, getting away from all the animals and all that. I had to get away from that.”
He added that his energy was ‘up’ and ‘[his] body feels amazing’.
Irving is one of a number of top athletes who has switched to a plant-based diet in 2017 – including F1 champion Lewis Hamilton, and fellow NBA star Jahil Okafor.

In the ad, Irving says: “This is my world – and these are my shoes – Kyrie 4.”
Irving changes into his team strip, and shows off his dribbling skills, before slam dunking the ball.
“Let’s see that backwards,” he says, before the image rewinds.
When asked how he does it, he replies: “Simple – plant-based diet.”
Sadly, the shoes are not vegan-friendly. According to Nike’s website: “Areas of premium suede add durability.”
