A moose who swam from New York to Vermont drowned on Saturday, an incident experts expect was caused by human onlookers.
After exiting the water, the moose was surrounded by people attempting to take photographs.
Drowning
This, Fish and Wildlife Officer Robert Currier said, drove the animal back into the water.
Currier explained that the high winds and rough water were too much for the moose after the long swim.
“It was struggling pretty good at that point. We were waiting for a boat to respond totry to assist it, but before the boat arrived, it had drowned.”
