Four Perth men have been charged with torturing and killing two kangaroos.

A group of twentysomethings were arrested after police found ‘disturbing’ footage of violence toward animals saved on a confiscated cellphone.

Two videos, taken in May and June, show kangaroos being shot, burned, kicked, held down, stabbed, spat on, and hit with brass knuckles.

Accused

The names of the accused are Dylan Leslie Griffin, Ricky Ian Swan, Ben Jaydon Malpuss, and Luke Kevin Dempster.

After their arrest, they were given bail on $10,000 surety.

They were released under the condition that they don’t make contact with the Outlaws motorcycle gang, which at least Griffin is believed to be associated with.

Further allegations

Aside from the charges related to the kangaroos, Dempster is facing four charges of cruelty after allegedly killing a chicken.

He is believed to have tortured the animal by setting it on fire with a small explosive device.

‘Cowardly’

Speaking with ABC, Joondalup Police Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Giuffre described the recorded acts as ‘cowardly’.

He added: “I’ve seen the videos and honestly, in my 17 years of policing, it’s one of the most disturbing things I have seen, hands down.”
