McDonald’s bosses have apologized after a vegan was served chicken in the chain’s Bangor outlet.

According to the vegan woman, who told local media she wanted to remain anonymous, she only realized when she took a bite out of the wrap.

She had ordered the veggie wrap Happy Meal, which staff said they no longer served, but could make up as they had the ingredients.

‘Definitely put me off’

“I contacted McDonald’s privately on Twitter about it and I gave the wrap to my dogs so that it wouldn’t go to waste,” she said.

“McDonald’s isn’t somewhere I go too many times, and this has definitely put me off going to these fast food places – even if they do vegan foods.”

‘Not acceptable’

“We absolutely recognize that it is not acceptable to serve meat when a vegetarian product has been ordered, and we sincerely apologize to the customer for the mistakes that were made in this case. This was simply not good enough,” a McDonald’s spokesperson said in a statement.

“We have a number of procedures in place to avoid inaccurate orders, but In this case, these were clearly not followed, and we are looking into why this occurred.”
