Man Charged With Animal Cruelty After Allegedly Burying Kitten Alive

29-year-old
Johnny Mack Rogers of Erwin, North Carolina has been charged with aggravated
animal cruelty after allegedly drunkenly burying a kitten alive.

Buried
alive

According
to one report, the kitten had been trampled on and then buried alive during a
night of drinking at Rogers’ home.

Later, the
kitten was brought to the Unicoi County Animal Shelter.

The
shelter informed police and brought the kitten to a veterinarian for treatment –
who said chances of survival were slim.

Warrior

Dubbed
Warrior, the six-week-old animal was covered it dirt and blood when upon
arrival at the veterinary clinic.

Warrior’s
injuries ultimately resulted in death.

‘Not
acceptable’

An
impassioned Facebook post from the shelter informed followers of Rogers’ court
date. 

Noting that he’s up against a felony charge, it read: “Mark your calendars. I want hundreds of people there.

“We need to show that this is not acceptable
behavior in our community and in society.”
