Reality TV star and vegan entrepreneur, Lucy Watson, has slammed British actor Martin Clunes after he was pictured riding an elephant for an ITV program.

‘#DONTRIDEELEPHANTS’

Watson, who launched a range of vegan ready meals in 155 Waitrose stores last year, Tweeted a picture of Clunes grabbing the elephants ears before riding the animal.

“This has really pissed me off this morning. What a d**k. #DONTRIDEELEPHANTS,” she said.

Clunes, most known for his role on Doc Martin, has since been dropped as a patron of Born Free – an animal-rights charity that ‘works across the world to preserve and protect wildlife in its natural habitat’.

Opposed to exploitation

“We can confirm that, with much regret, Martin Clunes is no longer a patron,” Born Free’s website states.

“Born free has always been opposed to the exploitation of captive wild animals for entertainment and human interactions, including riding elephants.”

“Martin was a generous and loyal Patron for many years, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for wild animals in need. We thank him for his support and dedication.”
