A number of
pigs have died after a haul lorry overturned on the A1079 roundabout between
Market Weighton, South Cave, and Beverly this morning.

‘Chaos’

The vehicle
– carrying animals used in animal agriculture – ended up on its side, causing
what has been described as ‘traffic chaos’.

In addition
to the obstacle presented by the vehicle itself, escaped pigs reportedly ran
loose in the area, prompting closure of surrounding roads.

Casualties

While a
police statement specified that ‘some of the pigs sadly died in the collision’ –
it made no mention of whether the animals were en route to slaughter.

The lorry
driver escaped the incident unscathed.
