A Maryland hunter was knocked unconscious after a goose shot by a member of his group fell from the sky and hit him.
Robert Meilhammer, who was out with three fellow hunters, when he was struck by the animal, was transferred to a hospital, then airlifted to the Maryland Shock Trauma center.
According to Candy Thomson, spokesperson for the Maryland Natural Resources Police: “One of the members of the hunting party shot and killed the goose.
“It is unclear which one it was.”
Injuries
Meilhammer suffered injuries to his face and head, reportedly losing two teeth in the incident which Thomson described as ‘freaky’.
She added: “He’s lucky. Those birds weigh a lot, and falling back down to earth, they’re going to pick up a lot of speed. It’s gonna leave a mark.”
According to Thomson, when Meilhammer came to, ‘he didn’t know too much besides his name’.
