Award-winning documentary, For The Birds, directed by vegan filmmaker Richard Miron, is screening in Los Angeles.

The feature, which will air at Laemmle Monica Film Center from June 14 – 20, follows a weeklong theatrical run at the IFC Center in New York.

“For the Birds follows a woman named Kathy whose love for her pet ducks, chickens, geese, and turkeys — all 200 of them — draws the attention of local animal rescuers and puts her marriage in jeopardy,” the documentary’s synopsis reads.

The documentary, which has been screened at more than 20 film festivals around the world, received the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at the New Orleans Film Festival and the Ridgefield Independent Film Festival.

‘Countless twists and turns’

“When I went into making this film, my initial plan was to tell a story about animal rescue, but follow it from multiple viewpoints,” says Miron.

“But as the story took countless twists and turns over the next five years, it grew into something I never could have anticipated. The more I filmed, the more inspired I was to dig deeper into the human story behind the bird story.”
