Diners have been left outraged as chicken nuggets labeled as ‘vegan’ were found to contain eggs and dairy.
Twitter user Charlie Griffiths says she ended up ‘getting into an argument’ with the staff at Upper Crust Pizzeria in Chester, England, after questioning whether her order was actually vegan.
‘This is so wrong’
“As soon as I saw them and smelt them I knew they weren’t vegan so I went in and finally I got them to show me the packet, this is so so wrong,” Griffiths said.
“They were legit calling me and my friend stupid, and shoving veggie nuggets in our face and holding the packet far away just pointing at the Quorn label, it took me so long to make this b***h show me the packet.”
Yooo so last night I ended up getting into an argument with these staff bc they sell “vegan” nuggets, we bought them and as soon as I saw them and smelt them I knew they weren’t vegan so I went in and finally I got them to show me the packet, this is so so wrong ??? pic.twitter.com/7gF0kIg5ny

While Quorn does offer chicken nuggets suitable for vegans, the ones Griffiths received can be seen to contain rehydrated egg white and milk proteins.
‘Health concerns’
“Moral of the story: there’s some pretty f****d up people out there that don’t give a f**k about your dietary requirements or your beliefs, if you think something isn’t right, don’t feel wrong for questioning it and don’t let the workers make you think that either,” Griffiths continued.
“Since the hate is already rolling in, I wanna bring attention to the health concerns these issues bring. Please, for a second, let’s just put veganism and beliefs aside and consider the fact that this could have KILLED a customer had they had an allergy to dairy.”
