Professional bodybuilder and Australian Ninja Warrior competitor Jacob Hohua has praised a plant-based diet for ‘changing his life’ – after he ditched animal products three and a half years ago.
The 25-year-old strongman, whose nickname is the plant-based gorilla, is this year’s heaviest contestant- weighing 109kg.
‘I have more energy’
“Becoming plant-based has definitely changed my life. I feel like I have more energy; I feel more in tune with myself and I just feel overall happier,” Hohua said in a recent YouTube video.
“I can eat anywhere from five to seven thousand calories a day. [I eat] lots of fruit, lots of veggies, beans, lentils, quinoa, rice, and pasta.”
‘Health is wealth’
Hohua recently posted a video on Instagram of two children eating vegetables so they ‘can be strong like Jacob’.
“To know I’ve motivated even one kid to eat their vegetables makes me smile and makes it all worth it,” the athlete said.
“I’m not trying to make people go ‘vegan’. I just want them to make healthier/more conscious decisions. Health is wealth and happiness so if we can get our youth to realize that we are looking at a brighter future.”
