Pro driver Lewis Hamilton has suggested his new plant-based is the reason for a successful Formula One season.

The sportsman ditched animal products from his diet in September, after watching documentary What The Health – and has now revealed he feels the best he ever felt in his life.

Talking to CNN ahead of this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the sportsman said: “I do feel the best I have ever felt in my life, in my 32 years – physically.

“I feel incredibly clean and healthy.”

No going back

Hamilton, who grabbed his fourth world title this season, added: “When I speak to my friends and family they say, ‘I could never be on a plant-based diet, I could never be vegan’.

“It’s weird, because once you cross that line and go over the hill I can’t imagine going back.

“There’s things I see my friends eating – and I used to eat it – but now I feel sick because I have read about it and have read some of the science.”

The legendary F1 driver cited reasons such as ‘animal cruelty, global warming, and our personal health’ as reasons for going plant-based earlier this fall.
