Campaigners say they are ‘horrified and disappointed’ to learn that an airline has reneged on its promise to stop transporting monkeys destined for use in experiments.
According to Cruelty Free International, it has been contacted by a member of staff at Bangkok Airport about hundreds of monkeys flown from Thailand to the USA by Royal Jordanian Airlines.
According to the organization: “In 2014, Royal Jordanian contacted us pledging their commitment against transporting monkeys for research purposes. We are horrified and disappointed to learn that the promise to prevent these cruel shipments has been broken.”

Cruelty Free International has photos showing stacked crates of monkeys, waiting to be loaded on to a Royal Jordanian flight at Bangkok Airport.
“It is difficult to imagine just how frightened and stressed such sensitive animals must feel; taken from their families, confined in these small wooden crates, trapped in a pitch black, noisy cargo hold,” said the organization.
“The route taken by these airplanes takes over 26 hours – for these imprisoned passengers merely the journey to a life of suffering, misery and even death, in a laboratory.”
Plant Based News has contacted Royal Jordanian Airlines for comment.
