Three men have been arrested on suspicion of selling avocados illegally in Ventura County.

According to reports, county sheriff deputies arrested the suspects last Wednesday, after serving search warrants at their workplace and homes. The men were identified as Joseph Valenzuela, Carlos Chavez and Rahim Leblanc, also of Oxnard.

The men all worked at a Mission Produce outlet.

Investigation

An investigation was sparked by allegations that Mission employees were selling avocados for cash – without authorization. Mission Produce believes the sales total more than $250,000.

Detectives claim these sales have been going on for months.

The investigation continues.
